Sulnox partner Spring Marine wins ESG Shipping Award for fleet-wide fuel additive deployment

Chief Executive Ben Richardson said the results "were achieved using existing vessels, existing engines and existing fuels, with zero capital expenditure," describing the evidence base as "the standard that drives real adoption across the sector."

Sulnox Group (LSE:SNOX), an Aquis-listed greentech company whose fuel additive technology reduces consumption and emissions without vessel modification, announced that its customer Spring Marine Management has received the Industry Partnership Leader Award (Bronze) at the 2026 ESG Shipping Awards.

The judging panel cited the fleet-wide deployment of Sulnox Eco as the basis for the recognition.

Spring Marine first introduced the product on selected vessels in 2023 and ran a two-year evaluation using Coriolis mass flow meters, torque meters and engine performance monitoring systems, recording average fuel consumption reductions of approximately 5% and specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC) improvements of between 3.6% and 5.9% on vessels where conditions permitted full analysis.

Following the evaluation, Spring Marine approved a full fleet rollout, which is estimated to cut annual CO2 emissions by approximately 23,000 tonnes while supporting improvements in Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator and Carbon Intensity Indicator ratings.

Chief Executive Ben Richardson said the results "were achieved using existing vessels, existing engines and existing fuels, with zero capital expenditure," describing the evidence base as "the standard that drives real adoption across the sector."

Spring Marine General Manager Captain George Chondronikolas said approving full rollout "was a straightforward decision" given two years of verified fuel savings, cleaner engine components and lower emissions, all delivered without dry docking.
