Serco Group (LSE:SRP) has retained its facilities management contract at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in a deal worth more than £270m over the next ten years.

Serco, the international provider of critical government services, said the renewed agreement takes effect immediately and continues its 25‑year relationship with NNUH covering contract management, catering, laundry, waste management, security, car parking and grounds maintenance while deploying risk management and workflow software to drive efficiency in portering and cleaning.

"I am extremely proud of the role Serco has played delivering critical services at NNUH for the last 25 years," said Anthony Kirby, Serco Group Chief Executive.

The company said the two engagements will be aligned to extend its integrated service delivery at NNUH through to January 2037.

As part of the contract, Serco said 42 colleagues at NNUH are on an apprenticeship course and the firm is supporting young people with learning disabilities or autism through the NHS-backed "Work Matters" initiative, which it says has involved 144 participants since 2011.
