GEO Exploration expands Gorge target inventory to 12 sites

Airborne survey interpretation upgrades three existing rank-one targets and identifies nine new prospects at the Western Australian gold project.

GEO Exploration said final results from airborne geophysical surveys at its Gorge Project in Western Australia have identified nine further exploration targets.

The AIM-listed gold explorer's target inventory now stands at 12 areas, up from three, after the interpretation work also upgraded the existing rank-one targets at Gorge Mine, the 401 Prospect and MAG001.

The programme combined high-resolution LiDAR, aerial photography, magnetic and radiometric surveys, interpreted by Dr Finbar Murphy of Fractore Pty, whose prior work contributed to Predictive Discovery Limited's Bankan Gold Project discovery in Guinea, since defined as a 5.4 million ounce gold resource.

The interpretation confirmed Gorge sits on the Wyloo Dome, a domal structure type associated with major Australian gold deposits including Telfer and Fosterville.

LiDAR mapping uncovered 24 historic shafts and 12 trenches, more extensive workings than previously recorded, with several shafts developed directly along quartz veins visible in aerial imagery.

MAG001, in an unexplored part of the licence, shows coincident magnetic, radiometric, structural and surface features consistent with an intrusion-related gold system or an iron oxide copper-gold-style mineral system.

Three-dimensional modelling puts the top of that magnetic body roughly 300 metres beneath the surface.

Ground truthing, mapping and sampling of the newly identified historic workings will be completed during the forward work programme.
