First Class Metals (LSE:FCM) told investors it has confirmed gold mineralisation over approximately 300 metres at the Roy trend northeast extension in Ontario, with follow-up grab sampling returning eight results above 5g/t gold and a peak of 17.3g/t.
The London-listed junior gold explorer, which holds exploration properties including Sunbeam, North Hemlo and Kerrs Gold in Ontario, Canada, said the new zone sits roughly 1,100 metres northeast of the historic Roy shafts and remains open in both directions.
The results build on a previously reported grab sample from the same structure that assayed 32,100g/t gold, an ultra-high-grade find the company has now linked to a wider, geochemically confirmed anomaly.
Of 21 outcrop samples collected over more than 100 metres along the trend, 17 returned at least 0.5g/t gold.
"Prospecting along strike to the south from the ultra-high grade (visible gold) sample has produced further high-grade samples," said chief executive Marc J. Sale, adding that the results define "a ~300m strike of >1ppm gold" with systematic prospecting yet to be conducted to the northeast and southwest.
Additional visible gold has also been identified near the original discovery site, and specimens have been preserved for detailed sampling as part of a planned stripping campaign.
A local contractor has been engaged to clear access and strip vegetation and overburden at the Roy extension, preparing the zone for washing, geological mapping and systematic channel sampling.
The company said the find reinforces its exploration model, which combines soil geochemistry, LiDAR interpretation, structural geology and historic data, an approach it now plans to apply to further targets including the Pettigrew trend.

A drill rig is expected to mobilise to site around the end of October to begin a drilling programme on Pettigrew.
The Sunbeam property's maiden drill programme earlier this year tested approximately 300 metres of strike along the Roy prospect, with 11 of 12 holes intersecting the target structure and hole SUN26-05 averaging 40.2g/t gold across assay methods.
Consulting geologist Chris Copper, who advises First Class Metals, described the latest results as "pretty rare to see grabs of this type over 300m", calling the find "seriously a company maker".
The company said future prospecting will extend northeast along the existing soil and VLF survey grid, and southwest towards the Roy drilling area, with the same targeting approach also earmarked for the wider Pettigrew and Sunbeam trends.
