Rockfire Resources (AIM:ROCK), the base metal, critical mineral and precious metal exploration company, has reported high-grade assay results from its 100%-owned Molaoi zinc deposit in Greece.

Hole HMO-020 returned three intersections, including 2.34 metres at 6.2% zinc, 20.2g/t silver and 15.1g/t germanium from 215.60 metres downhole depth.

Further intercepts included 2.86 metres at 4.1% zinc, 24.5g/t silver and 9.3g/t germanium from 240.04 metres, and 2.23 metres at 5.2% zinc, 24.4g/t silver and 4.1g/t germanium from 248.12 metres.

Molaoi currently carries a JORC Inferred Resource of 15.0 million tonnes at 7.26% zinc, 1.75% lead and 39.50g/t silver, equivalent to 1.5 million tonnes of zinc-equivalent metal.

Diamond drilling continues with hole HMO-021, designed to test the same section as HMO-015 and HMO-020, though work is temporarily suspended over the summer vacation period.

Core samples have been sent to SLR Consulting for comminution testing to determine appropriate crushing and grinding equipment and power requirements, alongside point load compressive tests to assess how the ground will withstand voids created during underground mining.

"Each successful hole is expected to add to the overall tonnage of our targeted Indicated Resource", said chief executive David Price.

Rockfire is also in discussions with several groups on metallurgical testing options, including flotation tests, zinc ingot smelting and germanium product production as part of its feasibility pathway.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Rockfire has returned three high-grade zinc intersections from hole HMO-020 at Molaoi, with the best hit 2.34m at 6.2% zinc plus 20.2g/t silver and 15.1g/t germanium. The results sit within or exceed the grades of the existing 15.0Mt JORC Inferred Resource (7.26% Zn), and the company is explicitly targeting upgrade to Indicated classification through continued drilling—a material step toward feasibility, supported by parallel metallurgical and geotechnical work now underway.

Investment case

Molaoi remains on track for resource upgrade and feasibility study. The consistency of high-grade hits across multiple holes, combined with active metallurgical testing and company-owned drilling rig delivery expected in late September–October, suggests Rockfire is executing its development pathway; the summer drilling pause and pending ecological study (due August) are near-term timing risks, not fundamental setbacks.
