Talisman Metals reports first copper hits from Tirzzit drill campaign

Talisman Metals (AIM:TLM) has reported initial assay results from the first four reverse circulation drill holes of its 2026 exploration programme at the Tirzzit copper-silver project in Morocco.

The AIM-listed explorer said the results confirmed copper mineralisation within the Late Precambrian basal series sedimentary strata as expected.

The strongest individual intercept came from TRC01, which returned 1.56% copper and 64 grams per tonne silver over two metres from eight metres downhole.

Meanwhile, TRC02 returned 0.31% copper over 10 metres from two metres downhole, including one metre at 2.08% copper and 15 grams per tonne silver, and TRC04 delivered 0.31% copper and 7 grams per tonne silver over five metres from 83 metres downhole, including one metre at 1.05% copper and 19 grams per tonne silver.

Talisman said it began the 33-hole, 2,770-metre reverse circulation campaign at Tirzzit in early September, after a 2026 channel sampling programme and the discovery of outcropping copper mineralisation extended the known mineralised zone and firmed up drill targets along an interpreted strike of at least four kilometres.

The company said drilling is ongoing, with exploration targets across the project expected to be completed in four to six weeks and further assay results due throughout the fourth quarter.

"These initial results from Tirzzit confirm the existence and location of copper-bearing sedimentary strata and we believe that as we complete the drill program, we will uncover stratigraphic folds within the basal series that bear wider zones of mineralisation, as is common in analogous deposits from around the region," chief executive Tim McCutcheon said.

Talisman said the current programme is intended to better define the extent, grade and geometry of the basal series strata at Tirzzit, supporting a future resource estimate.

Blank samples showed no contamination above three times the detection limit for copper or silver, and certified reference materials returned values within acceptable ranges, though the company noted its four field duplicates were too few to conclusively assess analytical precision.

The results follow a £501,800 placing Talisman completed at 7p per share in August, which the company said would fund exploration and development work across its Tirzzit and Fougnar projects in Morocco.
