Mendell Helium (LSE:MDH), the Kansas-focused helium production company, has reported progress across its Fort Dodge operations, with its Rost 2-26 well perforated and being sized for pumping equipment, its Brobee disposal well upgraded to 10,000 barrels per day, and a new disposal well completed to support the recompletion of the Schneweis Ventures 13A well.

At Rost 2-26, swabbing data is being used to specify the electric submersible pump for deployment, with Summit ESP, a Halliburton division, expected to supply the unit following a meeting this week to finalise arrangements.

The upgraded Brobee facility now operates at double its previous capacity, sufficient to handle both Rost wells and any additional production wells brought online.

Schneweis Ventures 13A, a well with a historic drill stem test exceeding 10,000 Mcf per day, is awaiting Kansas state approval before preliminary de-watering can begin using an existing on-site pumping unit.

Mendell Helium has also acquired more than nine square miles of 3D seismic data to support location selection for up to four new wells across the Bleumer, Enlow, Durler and Leffert tracts, with drilling contractor discussions under way and a preferred partner expected to be selected shortly.

"Since our admission to AIM earlier this month, we have wasted no time in expanding our business," said chief executive Nick Tulloch.

The company is targeting the start of operations on the new wells by 31 October, with the drilling programme to be funded by the placing completed on 30 April.
