Talisman Metals (AIM:TLM) has started drilling at its Tirzzit project, in Morocco.

The programme comprises 33 holes totalling 2,770 metres, with scope to test additional targets of opportunity as the campaign progresses.

Individual holes will range from 40 metres to 140 metres deep, covering the project's entire 4km strike, consistent with the scope the company outlined on 23 July.

The work uses reverse circulation drilling, a method that pumps compressed air down the borehole to force rock cuttings back to the surface through an inner tube, producing dry, uncontaminated samples for assay.

Talisman said it will provide updates as the drilling campaign progresses.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Talisman Metals has begun its planned 33-hole reverse circulation drilling campaign at Tirzzit, targeting the full 4 km strike length with 2,770 metres of drilling. This execution step follows the exploration update flagged in August and the discovery of new outcropping copper mineralisation extending the known zone eastward by up to 2 km; the drilling now tests that extended strike systematically.

Investment case

The drill programme is now live and will generate assay results over the coming weeks—the quality of those results will determine whether the outcrop discovery translates into economic mineralization at depth. Until samples return, this is execution risk rather than a material change to the investment case.
