Alien Metals (AIM:UFO), the AIM-listed minerals exploration and development company, notes that its associate GreenTech Metals has appointed Rachel Backus as Chief Geologist, effective 27 July.
The hire is timed to precede a major drilling campaign across GreenTech's two flagship West Pilbara assets: the Munni Munni platinum group element, copper and nickel project and the Whundo copper-zinc-gold project.
Backus brings more than 18 years of exploration experience across gold and multi-commodity systems in Western Australia and northern Australia, with a technical background covering gold, nickel, copper, manganese, iron and platinum group element systems.
Her previous senior roles span Fortescue Metals Group, Western Areas, Prodigy Gold and Saturn Metals, among others, and she joins GreenTech from Leeuwin Metals, where she served as Exploration Manager.
"Rachel's appointment is a significant step in building the in-house technical capability we need to deliver on the exciting programme ahead of us," said GreenTech chief executive James Rattenbury.
Alien holds a 90%-owned iron ore project in the central Pilbara, and also carries exploration interests in the West Pilbara through its stake in GreenTech.
