Quantum Helium (AIM:QHE) (AIM: QHE) said a twelve-month technical evaluation of its Sagebrush and Coyote Wash acreage in Colorado has identified five new drilling opportunities beyond its two existing projects.
The programme combined high-resolution 3D seismic acquisition, reprocessing of historic seismic data and a review of historic drilling, wireline logs and production data.
Two lower-risk candidates have been ranked as near-term targets, with drilling possible within roughly the next 12 months subject to permitting and operational priorities.
A further three higher-impact prospects have been identified, representing larger helium and oil opportunities for future drilling, and Quantum said ongoing interpretation of its seismic dataset continues to generate additional exploration concepts.
The helium, hydrogen and hydrocarbon explorer, which also holds royalty interests in Australia, said the work confirmed the integrity of known helium-bearing structures at both projects.
"Twelve months ago we had two highly prospective projects supported by historic drilling and legacy seismic. Today we have one of the most comprehensive technical datasets assembled across this part of the basin," said chief executive Howard McLaughlin.
McLaughlin pointed to the company's independently assessed helium resource base of more than 1 billion cubic feet and existing oil production as the foundation for what it now frames as a multi-year exploration and development programme.
Quantum said it will continue prioritising the identified opportunities while advancing permitting, technical studies and commercial planning, with further updates expected as individual prospects progress through evaluation.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
Quantum Helium's year-long seismic review of its Colorado acreage has identified five ranked drilling candidates—two near-term targets and three higher-impact prospects—expanding its portfolio beyond the two existing projects. This materially widens the company's exploration runway: where it had two projects a year ago, it now has a pipeline of five ranked opportunities plus ongoing seismic interpretation generating additional concepts, anchoring a multi-year development programme on an independently assessed helium resource base of more than 1 billion cubic feet and existing oil production.
The expansion from two to five ranked drilling candidates, with two positioned for drilling within ~12 months, extends Quantum Helium's exploration optionality and reduces single-project concentration risk. However, the story contains no timeline, cost estimate, or capital requirement for the drilling programme, leaving the cash and funding implications—material for a junior explorer—unquantified.
