Gana Media Group (LSE:MOS) announced the launch of a native Android Estadio Gana app on the Google Play Store to capture the dominant mobile platform in Mexico.
The release forms part of the company's stated strategy to build a vertically integrated sports media and gaming ecosystem combining content, distribution and monetisation across multiple mediums.
The company cites Statcounter and Counterpoint figures showing Android at 69.5% market share in Mexico, an estimated 75-77 million Android users, an addressable audience of roughly 76.4 million when cross-referenced with a nationwide smartphone/user base of about 110 million.
The native app is pitched to improve performance and engagement through optimized code for faster load times and instantaneous live odds and match data, a mobile-first navigation designed for one-handed use and biometric security, plus push notifications and personalised content streams.
"The transition from a mobile-responsive site to a high-performance native app is more than a technical upgrade; it is a commitment to our Mexican user base," said Mark Epstein.
The company expects the launch to drive user acquisition and retention through the remainder of the 2026 fiscal year and to position Estadio Gana to capitalise on increased demand roughly the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
