Hydrogen Utopia International (LSE:HUI) on Monday announced that its subsidiary, HUI Advanced Fuels, has selected Honeywell Technologies to supply licensing and process technologies for its planned sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in northeast England.
The agreement covers Honeywell's FT Unicracking technology and its Syngas Pretreatment System, featuring SeparALL technology, which together are intended to convert synthesis gas derived from waste plastics into SAF and other low-carbon fuels.
Hydrogen Utopia International is a London-listed, pre-revenue waste-to-fuels and hydrogen company developing a proprietary thermochemical water-splitting process to convert difficult-to-recycle waste into low-carbon products.
In today's announcement, HUI said the latest agreement provides a processing route from household or household-like waste, with recyclable material removed, through to finished SAF. It builds on a licence already secured from InEnTec for the project, and follows an indicative eligibility review HUI received on 1 September in connection with its application to the UK Department for Transport's Low Carbon Fuels Fund.
HUI said it will now move into front-end engineering, final site selection, permitting, feedstock offtake and utility arrangements, and the pursuit of project funding, working toward the technical, commercial and financial basis needed for a final investment decision by its board.
"Selecting Honeywell Technologies UOP process solutions for our planned U.K. SAF facility is an important step in the project's development and provides an established route for key process steps, providing surety to lenders, investors, off-takers and strategic partners," said Duncan Snelling, chief executive of HUI Advanced Fuels Limited.
