Monday's small-cap session carried a distinct energy-infrastructure thread, headlined by a land deal that pushes EnergyPathways closer to a final investment decision on its flagship storage hub, alongside a £104m buyout that hands Future Biogas full control of its anaerobic digestion fleet. Healthcare and listings news added further texture, with One Health Group confirming it remains on track for full-year targets and precision engineer Tek4 Group making its AIM debut at a £42m valuation. Further down the board, drilling updates, a helium policy boost and a long-running arbitration claim rounded out a busy day for resources and special situations names.
EnergyPathways secures Barrow land for MESH hydrogen link
EnergyPathways (AIM:EPP) has signed heads of terms to buy land at Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, securing a pipeline corridor the company regards as critical to connecting its Marram Energy Storage Hub project to existing gas and hydrogen transport infrastructure. The commercial terms remain confidential, with completion expected within roughly a month subject to binding terms, due diligence and customary closing conditions. The shares eased to 5.08p, down 1.923% on the day, as the market digested the structural significance of the deal against the near-term lack of financial detail.
MESH combines compressed air energy storage, offshore gas storage in the East Irish Sea, and a planned hydrogen and graphite production plant at Barrow, with combined development costs across the three elements estimated at £1.02bn to £1.20bn and a final investment decision targeted for 2028. The land corridor is intended to fast-track the hydrogen industries pillar of the project, with EnergyPathways now pointing to possible first revenues from the hydrogen and graphite plant as early as 2029 to 2030. Alongside the land purchase, the company is progressing a gas grid connection at Barrow with National Gas Transmission and is in talks with an existing pipeline owner over reusing infrastructure already in place.
"Securing land in Barrow is a major milestone for EnergyPathways as we invest in assets to move our MESH project towards development," said Ben Clube, chief executive of EnergyPathways.
The deal matters less for its immediate financial impact, which is undisclosed and modest in isolation, than for what it signals about execution risk ahead of a 2028 investment decision on a project costing over £1bn. Land control removes a key dependency for linking MESH to the gas grid, de-risking the hydrogen and graphite business specifically and giving EnergyPathways a tangible milestone to point to as it continues courting partners and financing ahead of FID.
Future Biogas takes full control of six AD plants
Future Biogas, a portfolio company backed by 3i Infrastructure (LSE:3IN), has acquired the remaining 49% stake in a portfolio of six gas-to-grid anaerobic digestion facilities from Foresight Environmental Infrastructure for £104m. The deal gives Future Biogas full ownership of plants it first took a 51% stake in during August 2024, and the £104m price matches 3i Infrastructure's own September valuation expectations for the assets. 3i Infrastructure shares were essentially flat at 392.45p, down 0.01%, as the transaction had been broadly anticipated.
Since taking majority control, Future Biogas has delivered roughly 21% growth in EBITDA across the six plants, and full ownership is expected to let it accelerate capacity expansions and operational enhancements already identified across the portfolio. The acquisition will initially be funded through an equity commitment from 3i Infrastructure alongside Future Biogas's existing cash, ahead of a planned refinancing of the group's capital structure.
"Full ownership will allow us to progress these investments more quickly, unlocking further growth and strengthening Future Biogas's position as a leading owner, developer and operator of anaerobic digestion plants in the UK," said Philipp Lukas, chief executive of Future Biogas. Consolidating full ownership removes a minority-interest overhang and gives 3i Infrastructure's portfolio company unencumbered control over capital allocation decisions, a meaningful step for an asset management strategy built on compounding returns from renewable gas infrastructure.
One Health Group stays on track to meet full-year expectations
One Health Group (AIM:OHGR) reported first-half revenue up 17% to £18.3m for the six months to 30 September, with underlying EBITDA expected to beat the £1.18m reported a year earlier. The shares rose 5.98% to 310.0p as the NHS-funded elective surgery provider confirmed it remains on track to meet full-year market expectations of £33.2m to £34m in revenue and £2.6m in underlying EBITDA.
New NHS patient referrals climbed 24% to 11,275, consultations rose 24% to 29,755, and surgical procedures increased 13% to 4,517 versus the prior first half. Annualised revenue per consultant rose 17% to £446,000, even as the consultant pool was deliberately rationalised to 82 from 88 in March, with a further 12 under review as the company pushes for higher productivity per clinician.
"Activity was ahead of both the corresponding period last year and the second half of FY26, with growth achieved across all key performance measures," said Adam Binns, chief executive. The productivity gains from a smaller consultant base suggest One Health Group is successfully extracting more throughput per clinician rather than simply growing headcount, a dynamic that should support margin expansion if sustained through the back half of the year.
Tek4 Group floats on AIM valuing company at £42m
Shares in Tek4 Group (AIM:TEK4) began trading on AIM on Monday alongside a £24.75m placing, valuing the precision engineering business at £42m with 21m shares in issue. The UK company designs, manufactures and supports specialised hole-drilling systems used to create cooling holes in aero engine and industrial gas turbine components.
The placing comprised 12.38m shares priced at 200p each, with £22.75m going to selling existing shareholders and roughly £2m raised in new money for the company. Tek4 said the placing was significantly oversubscribed, reflecting institutional appetite for exposure to aerospace and power-generation supply chains.
"As the aerospace and power-generation industries seek to produce engines that operate at higher temperatures, more efficiently and for longer, the importance of the technology sitting behind their cooling systems is constantly increasing," said chief executive Duffin. The oversubscribed debut signals investor confidence in a niche but structurally growing end-market, though with the bulk of proceeds flowing to existing holders rather than the balance sheet, the float is more a liquidity event for early backers than a capital-raising one for growth.
RTW-backed Lycia completes $318m Nasdaq listing
Lycia Therapeutics (NASDAQ:LYCA) completed a $318m Nasdaq debut, marking the latest in a run of successful biotech IPOs tied to RTW Venture Fund's portfolio. The listing adds to a string of exits that have bolstered RTW's investment case as a backer of early-stage life-sciences companies reaching public markets.
The scale of the raise underscores continued investor appetite for differentiated biotech platforms even as broader IPO markets remain selective, and gives RTW's venture strategy another visible marker of realised value from its earlier-stage bets.

Georgina Energy pushes back Hussar drilling start
GEORGINA ENERGY (LSE:GEX) delayed the start of drilling at its Hussar project after weather conditions and road access issues disrupted mobilisation plans, with shares falling 13.83% to 8.1p on the setback.
The delay pushes back a catalyst investors had been anticipating, and while weather-related slippage is common in remote drilling campaigns, the scale of the share price reaction reflects how tightly the stock had been trading on near-term news flow around spud timing.
Quantum Helium says US critical material status boosts Colorado case
Quantum Helium (AIM:QHE) said helium's designation as a critical material in the United States strengthens the investment case for its Colorado project, with shares rising 6.67% to 1.6p on the update.
Critical-material status can unlock policy support and streamlined permitting in the US, and the designation gives Quantum Helium a stronger narrative for advancing its domestic helium exposure at a time when supply security is a growing strategic priority for Washington.
