First Class Metals finds visible gold in new step-out from Roy discovery

First Class Metals (LSE:FCM), the gold exploration company focused on properties across Ontario, Canada, has identified visible gold in a grab sample approximately 1,100 metres northeast of the Roy shafts on its Sunbeam property.

The sample was found while prospecting a gold and lead soil anomaly near a structural intersection picked out by LiDAR data, and has been submitted for assay.

It marks a significant step-out from the visible gold First Class Metals previously identified in drilling at Roy, where a maiden programme reported in July returned bonanza-grade assays including 40.2 g/t gold averaged across three methods in hole SUN26-05.

The company interprets the Roy, Pettigrew and Sunbeam trends as part of a district-scale structure, and this new discovery adds weight to that model across a wider footprint of the property.

At Pettigrew, infill channel sampling, Phase 1 structural mapping and a Very Low Frequency (VLF) geophysical survey are now complete, with the VLF work identifying a strong conductor running the length of the survey area and remaining open along strike.

The findings support a proposed initial drill programme of approximately 1,000 metres at Pettigrew, with assays from channel and soil sampling still awaited.

At Roy itself, the company has extended its VLF and soil sampling coverage further northeast and begun Phase 2 structural mapping, aiming to refine priority targets for follow-up drilling.

Ontario's Ministry of Mines has granted a three-year exploration permit covering both the Roy and Pettigrew lineaments, allowing baseline clearing, stripping and drilling across the trend and its extensions.

First Class Metals has also engaged Rosor Exploration to run a magnetic, radiometric and LiDAR survey across 54.33 square kilometres of Sunbeam's Block A, with results to be integrated with existing VLF and geochemical data.

The company has signed a non-binding letter of intent to join Rosor's Project Field-to-Insight initiative, which will use the Sunbeam survey data to test AI-assisted geophysical processing and geological interpretation.

Elsewhere in the portfolio, field programmes at the Esa and Coco East claim blocks are complete with assays pending, prospecting has begun across two rare earth element claim blocks, and VLF data from four survey grids at North Hemlo is being reprocessed to guide the next phase of fieldwork.

The company received $132,972.76 under the Ontario Junior Exploration Program, non-dilutive funding it says adds to its exploration budget, and its review of the historic resource at the Kerrs Gold project is continuing.

"The identification of coarse visible gold in a rock sample in a predicted zone testifies to this," chief executive Marc J. Sale said, describing the structural work at Pettigrew and Roy as "stellar" and adding the company now has "a robust hypothesis which will allow targeting of drilling at Pettigrew and by default assist further drill planning at Roy."
