Avingtrans plc's (AIM:AVG) subsidiary Adaptix has received CE certification for the Adaptix Ortho350, clearing the way to commercialise the orthopaedic 3D imaging system across the UK and European Union.
The approval confirms the Ortho350 meets EU and UK safety, health and environmental standards and opens the human imaging market for Adaptix's digital tomosynthesis (DT) technology, with the parent group designing and supplying critical components, modules and systems to the energy, medical and industrial sectors.
"This approval enables us to bring truly disruptive, low dose 3D imaging directly to clinicians and patients in the UK and Europe," Stuart Gall, CEO of Avingtrans Medical and Industrial Imaging Division, said.
The compact, mobile Ortho350 is designed to deliver fast, low-dose, high-resolution 3D X‑ray imaging for hands, elbows, shoulders, knees and feet and supports weightbearing views at a fraction of the radiation dose and cost of traditional CT systems.
Adaptix already supplies its 3D technology to veterinary and industrial nondestructive testing markets, and the CE mark positions the business to expand revenue and commercial partnerships across primary care, emergency departments and outpatient settings.
Adaptix is based at the Oxford University Science Park and will now proceed to commercial rollout of the Ortho350 across key European and UK healthcare markets.
