Alien Metals (AIM:UFO) told investors that said its joint venture partner West Coast Silver (ASX: WCE) has completed the first-half diamond drilling programme at the Elizabeth Hill Silver Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The minerals exploration and development company holds a 30% interest in Elizabeth Hill alongside a 30.5 million share stake in West Coast Silver, equivalent to roughly 8.7% of its issued capital.
Fourteen holes were drilled for a total of 2,015.7 metres, testing deeper targets beneath the historical mine, following up drilling to the north and west of the current Mineral Resource Estimate, and infilling within the MRE block model released in April. Previously reported assays included 3 metres at 524 grams per tonne silver from 183 metres, including 1.5 metres at 1,039 grams per tonne from 184.5 metres in hole 26WCDD029.
All samples have now gone to ALS Geochemistry in Perth, with results expected in August.
West Coast Silver's executive chairman Bruce Garlick said the drilling showed silver mineralisation at Elizabeth Hill "extends beyond the historical underground mine and is associated with a broader structural corridor along the Munni Munni Fault."
The results are intended to support an updated JORC (2012) resource estimate and underpin economic studies into potential development options, with further diamond drilling planned for the second half of the year.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
West Coast Silver has completed 14 diamond holes (2,015.7 m) at Elizabeth Hill in the Pilbara, with assays due in August to feed an updated resource estimate. Alien Metals holds 30% of the project and 8.7% of West Coast Silver; the drilling tested deeper targets and infill areas, with one previously reported intercept showing 524 g/t silver over 3 m. The results are intended to support economic studies into development options, with further drilling planned for H2.
The drilling completion is a routine milestone in the exploration cycle; material value hinges on August assay results and whether they support a resource upgrade and economic viability. Alien Metals' 30% free-carried interest means upside exposure without near-term capital commitment, but the company remains dependent on West Coast Silver's execution and funding to advance Elizabeth Hill toward development.
