Rift Helium (LSE:RIFT) welcomed Tanzania's announcement that helium will be added to the country's new Critical and Strategic Minerals list, which the company described as a positive development for the emerging helium sector.

The company, focused on the exploration and development of primary helium in southwest Tanzania's Rukwa Basin, said CEO Charles FitzRoy and Non‑Executive Chairman Patrick Muwowo travelled to Dodoma to advance in‑country relationships as the funded work programme at the Upepo Project progresses.

"Engaging directly with government ministries and senior officials reinforced our confidence in Tanzania's commitment to developing its helium resources responsibly and its ambition to become an important player in the global helium supply chain," said chief executive Charles FitzRoy.

Rift said it held constructive meetings with Tanzania's Ministry of Minerals on responsible exploration and the regulatory environment, and met Forward Motion to discuss community engagement and sustainable development in Rift's areas of operation.

Following the IPO, Rift plans to acquire 3D seismic data and use cost‑efficient drilling techniques to test targets and progress toward commercial production, and it will provide further updates as key workstreams advance.
