Neo Energy Metals (LSE:NEO), the uranium and gold developer listed in London and on A2X, has appointed Elmarié Maritz as Chief Financial Officer.

Maritz spent close to a decade at platinum group metals producer Sedibelo Resources Group, latterly as Group CFO from 2016 to 2025.

Her track record there includes preparing the business for a proposed New York Stock Exchange listing up to F-1 filing stage, negotiating $100 million in metal stream agreements, and securing combined debt facilities of R1 billion with Nedbank and the Industrial Development Corporation.

Martin Westerman, who had served as Acting CFO since 8 June, moves into a newly created role as Group Head, Operations and Project Delivery.

He will coordinate execution across Neo Energy's project portfolio, including the Beisa and Henkries projects, spanning mining, geology, metallurgy, engineering and regulatory workstreams.

Chief Executive Officer Theo Botoulas said Maritz's appointment "strengthens our finance function at a pivotal time as we advance our two projects", adding that Westerman's project knowledge would now be applied to operational delivery.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Neo Energy Metals has appointed Elmarié Maritz, former Group CFO of platinum producer Sedibelo Resources Group, as its new Chief Financial Officer, replacing acting CFO Martin Westerman. Westerman moves into a newly created Group Head, Operations and Project Delivery role to oversee execution across the Beisa and Henkries uranium-gold projects. The appointment addresses a finance leadership gap that opened when the previous CFO was suspended in June pending a misconduct investigation.

Investment case

The hire brings external finance experience—including NYSE listing preparation and $100 million in metal stream negotiations at Sedibelo—at a time when Neo Energy is advancing two material projects toward development. Whether Maritz's track record translates to value creation for a junior explorer depends on execution of those projects and capital-raising capability; the appointment itself signals the board is moving past the June governance disruption.
