Novacyt (LSE AIM:NCYT) has agreed a Master Collaboration Agreement with Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN), the DNA sequencing and array-based technology group, running for an initial five-year term.
The molecular diagnostics company, listed on Euronext Growth and AIM, operates across reproductive health, precision medicine and infectious disease testing, alongside instrumentation and research-use-only services. The agreement sets up a framework for the two companies to explore collaboration in areas of mutual interest, with any actual projects requiring separate written agreements.
Novacyt said it will offer expertise that complements Illumina's, opening the door to deeper product development and commercial collaboration, though no specific projects have yet been confirmed.
"The MCA establishes a strategic framework to facilitate knowledge sharing and training between Novacyt and Illumina and the potential to explore future collaboration, reflecting the value of Novacyt's product development capabilities", said chief executive Lyn Rees.
The announcement was classified as inside information under EU Market Abuse Regulation.
Novacyt said it would provide updates on any material developments arising from the relationship as they occur.
