Vaalco posts strong initial flows in Gabon and Egypt as rig moves to SEENT

Ebouri-5H started at more than 8,000 gross BOPD (4,700 BOPD net) and Egypt's HE-9 exceeded predrill expectations with a 529 gross BOPD initial rate.

Vaalco Energy (LSE:EGY), said the Ebouri-5H development well in offshore Gabon was drilled, completed and placed on production with initial flows above 8,000 gross barrels of oil per day, or 4,700 BOPD net to Vaalco, and a very low water cut.

The company said Ebouri-5H encountered 300 metres of net pay in high-quality Gamba sands in a crestal position and that the HE-9 development well in Egypt, the first of its 2026 programme, encountered 26 metres of net pay in the Asl B reservoir and started at 529 gross BOPD.

"We remain focused on execution and driving meaningful growth through our organic capital programs that we believe will translate into value for our shareholders in 2026 and beyond," Chief Executive Officer George Maxwell said.

Vaalco said it has mobilised the drilling rig to the SEENT platform to drill the ETBNM-3 development well, a directionally drilled slant well adjacent to the GMF-1X discovery targeting gas and condensate in the Dentale D15 reservoir on the North Tchibala structure.

The company plans to use produced natural gas for field operations to reduce diesel deliveries, and intends to drill two development wells from SEENT as it progresses the remainder of its Gabon and Egypt programmes.
