Petards Group (AIM:PEG) expects to deliver a full-year result ahead of current market expectations, chairman Raschid Abdullah said in a trading update covering the six months to 30 June.

The AIM-listed developer of security, communication and surveillance systems reported better margins than both the first half and full year of 2025, despite revenue coming in very slightly lower.

The board expects earnings (EBITDA) growth over the first half of 2025, with net debt reduced to £1.16m from £1.34m at the end of December.

The order book stood at £9.6m at the end of June, up from £9.2m at the end of December.

"The group has continued to perform well in the first half of 2026, generating cash and growing gross profit margins and profitability", Abdullah said.

He added that the board expects the group to continue performing well over the remainder of the year.

Petards will publish its interim results for the six months ended 30 June on 11 September.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Petards reported H1 2026 margins ahead of H1 and full-year 2025 despite flat revenue, reduced net debt to £1.16m, and grew its order book to £9.6m. The board now expects full-year 2026 results to beat current market expectations—a material upgrade from prior guidance, anchored in improved profitability and cash generation rather than top-line growth.

Investment case

For a small-cap AIM security systems supplier, margin expansion and debt reduction while maintaining order book growth suggests operational leverage is working. The full-year beat guidance is meaningful only if the interim results on 11 September confirm the margin story; until then, this is a forward-looking claim, not a fact.
