Quantum Helium targets November for Sagebrush stimulation programme

Quantum Helium (AIM:QHE) has told investors that detailed engineering and operational planning for its next stimulation programme at the Sagebrush-1 well in Colorado is substantially complete, with field operations targeted to begin in November.

The AIM-listed junior, which holds a 90% working interest in the Sagebrush project, is finalising contractor and equipment arrangements, including specialist pumping services, high-pressure tubing and water handling equipment, ahead of the planned larger-volume, propped fracture stimulation.

Sagebrush-1's extended production test has already confirmed helium-bearing gas at approximately 2.5% helium, a result the company has pointed to as evidence of the reservoir's scale.

The new stimulation is designed to improve reservoir connectivity and establish stronger, more sustainable gas flow rates, targeting a broader section of the Leadville Formation that includes potential connectivity with the deeper Lower Leadville dolomite as well as the Upper Leadville interval already tested.

Quantum is working with specialist US fracture stimulation engineers to finalise treatment parameters, and is coordinating contractor mobilisation for the field campaign.

"We have already confirmed the presence of helium and demonstrated the scale of the reservoir structure," said Howard McLaughlin, chief executive of Quantum Helium.

"Our focus now is on applying the appropriate engineering solution to improve reservoir connectivity and establish the flow characteristics required to advance Sagebrush towards commercial development," he said.

The programme follows a twelve-month technical evaluation of the Sagebrush and Coyote Wash acreage, disclosed in August, that identified five new drilling opportunities beyond the company's two existing projects, two of which were ranked as near-term targets.

Quantum's stated primary objective for the November programme is to demonstrate improved, sustainable flow rates that will provide the production data needed to assess the next stage of commercial helium development, with operations subject to final scheduling and equipment availability.
