Mkango Magnetic Materials (AIM:MKA) announced on Monday that HyProMag USA, its US joint venture, has deployed a third Inserma Anoia hard disk drive separation system, this one configured as a mobile processing unit, extending its reach to customer sites across the country.
The deployment adds to two fixed installations already running with partner Intelligent Lifecycle Solutions (ILS) in South Carolina and Nevada, and is designed to support customer trials, on-site recovery campaigns and further feedstock development rather than fixed-site throughput alone.
HyProMag USA is the hub-and-spoke recycling venture working toward a fully integrated facility at Denton County, Texas, the so-called Texas Hub, where Mkango has previously guided first finished-magnet production for the first half of 2027 using magnet blocks shipped from its UK and Germany HyProMag plants, ahead of full integration targeted for the second quarter of 2028.
Feedstock inventories already under contract and in storage, alongside active procurement, are intended to support initial commissioning and ramp-up of Phase 1 activity at the Texas Hub in 2028.
ILS has also completed commercial sales of recovered printed circuit board material to downstream smelter partners, generating revenue that Mkango said partly offsets the cost of acquiring and retaining the magnet-bearing feedstock being stockpiled for future rare-earth recycling.
"The deployment of our third Inserma system as a mobile processing unit represents an important step in the development of the Dallas-Fort Worth project," said Julian Treger, chief executive of CoTec Holdings, which alongside Mkango's Maginito vehicle owns HyProMag USA on a 50/50 basis.
Graham Davy, managing director of ILS, said the mobile unit "allows us to work directly with customers at their facilities, supporting trial programs, demonstrating material recovery performance and creating opportunities to secure additional feedstock supply."

Feedstock sourcing is expanding beyond hard disk drives into industrial, healthcare, government and IT asset disposition sectors, while ILS operates under R2v3 and ISO-certified standards with documented chain-of-custody procedures aimed at data centre operators and other security-conscious customers.
A next-generation Inserma system built for the high-capacity, helium-filled drives used in hyperscale data centres is also under testing, with early results showing processing times of under three seconds per drive.
The update follows Mkango's broader push to build out US recycling capacity: HyProMag USA took possession of its roughly 125,000 sq ft Denton County hub in June, has since ordered long-lead equipment including HPMS vessels, and supplied first sample magnets to prospective US customers in July as it works toward commissioning of Texas finishing equipment.
