Henry Boot (LSE:BOOT) has announced that Tim Roberts will step down as Chief Executive Officer later this year and that Edward Hutchinson, Interim Managing Director of Stonebridge Homes, will be appointed as his successor.

Hutchinson is a chartered surveyor who joined the Group's development business, HBD, in 2004, became a director in 2012 and Managing Director in 2018, has been a key member of the Executive Committee for more than six years and has led Stonebridge's integration into the Group and its improvement plan, and Henry Boot is one of the UK's leading land, property development and home building businesses.

"I am delighted to welcome Ed as the next CEO, and pleased that we have been able to appoint an internal candidate as a result of our robust approach to talent management and ongoing succession planning," Peter Mawson, Chair, said.

Roberts, who joined Henry Boot in 2020, will work alongside Hutchinson to provide a comprehensive handover to enable a smooth transition, and the Board said a further update confirming the timing of these changes will be made in due course while noting Roberts' role in modernising the business, establishing the Executive Committee, simplifying strategy including the phased acquisition of Stonebridge Homes and disposal of Henry Boot Construction, moving the head office to Sheffield city centre and championing the Company's responsible business agenda.
