ValiRx (AIM:VAL), the life science company focused on early‑stage cancer therapeutics and women's health, said Cytolytix’s European patent "Nanoparticle for Anti‑Cancer Peptides and Uses Thereof" (application No.21798092.9) has been granted as EP4225803B1.
ValiRx said the granted family sits alongside a second core European application "Polyleucine‑Based Peptides As Anti‑Cancer Agents" (application No.20793085.0), for which it has requested accelerated examination after filing routine amendments, and that it filed a new patent covering second‑generation liposomal formulations that include data showing induction of immunogenic cell death in triple negative breast cancer cells.
The company said the licensed patent and new filings combine Cytolytix’s peptide platform and in‑house development with capability partners Inaphaea Biolabs, Screenin3D and Bioreparia.
It added that the strengthened IP posture is intended to support licensing, partnership talks with a major pharmaceutical company and non‑dilutive funding opportunities.
"We are delighted to see the grant of one Cytolytix's core patents by the European Patent Office, confirming that the platform is both novel and inventive, and I am equally delighted that we have now filed on our own proprietary position in the oncolytic peptide space," said Dr Mark Eccleston, ValiRx CEO and Cytolytix director, who will present the programme at the Oxford Global conference in Berlin on 14‑16 June.
"We will continue to expand these core patents with new IP developed using in house expertise at ValiRx and Inaphaea and we expect to further strengthen our portfolio with new filings in H2."
