Tap Global Group (LSE:TAP), the regulated digital finance platform, told investors it has appointed Moorwand as issuer and Bank Identification Number sponsor for a new Tap Mastercard programme.
The appointment extends a partnership first announced in October 2025, under which Moorwand, an FCA-authorised electronic money institution and principal member of Mastercard, already provides e-money accounts within the Tap app.
The new card is designed to let customers spend directly from whichever currency they hold in the app, rather than having transactions converted at the point of sale as happens with the current euro-denominated Tap card.
Tap said a multi-currency card has been the feature most requested by its customer base, and that Moorwand's issuing capability is intended to support expansion into additional markets, with products configured market by market according to local licensing and scheme requirements.
Card interchange and currency exchange sit alongside trading fees and Tap Earn income as operating revenue for the group, and the company expects card usage across more currencies and markets to grow card spend.
"Card interchange and FX are operating revenue, so every card we put in a customer's hand earns for the Group. This is the card our 400,000 customers should have," said Arsen Torosian, Group CEO and co-founder.
Luc Gueriane, chief executive of Moorwand, said the card mandate was "the natural next step" from the existing e-money relationship, giving Tap "a principal Mastercard connection so they can issue in more currencies and follow their customers into more markets."
The move follows a period in which Tap has been broadening its revenue base beyond trading, including the Tap Earn yield product, which reported assets under management of over $5.6 million as of its last update, and the launch of its own Stabld stablecoin family in June.
