Currys (LSE:CURY) has appointed Fredrik Tønnesen as Group Chief Executive, effective 3 August, with Alex Baldock to step down from the Board on 3 August and to support an orderly handover of responsibilities until his departure on 31 August.

Tønnesen has been Chief Executive of Currys' Nordics business since March 2023, overseeing roughly 40% of Group revenue.

The retailer highlighted that the new CEO brings more than 20 years' experience at Currys, from sales assistant to Managing Director for Norway and Nordics Chief Operating Officer, having more than tripled Nordics operating profits.

"He has huge experience inside the business and has led an extremely impressive operating performance improvement over the last three years," Ian Dyson, Chair.

As reported on 19 May, Curry's full-year adjusted pre-tax profit is expected to be roughly £191m, and the Group finished the year with net cash of more than £170m, with full results due on 2 July.
