Burberry Group (LSE:BRBY) reported comparable retail sales growth in the 13 weeks to 27 June, its first quarter of FY2027, marking the first time in three years the British luxury brand has seen growth across Womenswear, Menswear, Accessories and Childrenswear simultaneously.

Outerwear led the outperformance, with double-digit growth across heritage rainwear, lightweight jackets and seasonal products.

Americas and Greater China drove the quarter, growing 12% and 9% respectively, while Asia Pacific rose 3%, lifted by an 11% increase in South Korea.

Japan declined, hit by falling inbound tourism from China, and EMEIA fell 3% on the Middle East conflict and weaker tourist spend, though the region was down just 1% excluding the Middle East.

Retail revenue rose to £455 million, helped by currency tailwinds, with space down 1% in the period.

Burberry increased its first-half wholesale guidance following what it described as a positive response from partners, now expecting high single-digit percentage growth in the first half of FY2027.

"Our strategy is working. We are attracting a broad range of luxury customers across product categories, channels and geographies," said chief executive Joshua Schulman.

For the full year, Burberry said it expects to make further progress on its financial ambitions, including revenue growth and margin expansion, in line with expectations, while remaining mindful of the uncertain geopolitical and macroeconomic environment.

The company will report interim results for the 26 weeks ending in September on Thursday, 12 November.
