Hydrogen Utopia International (LSE:HUI) said it has incorporated a company Fortress Fuel as a subsidiary to pursue defence energy and fuel-security opportunities.
The board says Fortress Fuel is intended to cut forward-base dependence on fragile external supply chains by converting locally stockpiled waste plastics into certified JP-8, diesel and petrol, and HUI converts non-recyclable mixed waste plastic into hydrogen and carbon-free fuels.
"We are living in times of great instability...the case for a dedicated, deployable and sovereign fuel capability has never been stronger," Aleksandra Binkowska, Chief Executive Officer of HUI, said.
Fortress Fuel's proposed system would combine a plasma gasification front end, certified clean-up and established Fischer‑Tropsch and hydrocracking steps to produce about 28,000 tonnes of JP‑8 a year, plus roughly 5,000 tonnes of diesel and 2,000 tonnes of petrol while generating surplus power.
The board envisages an off-grid design that can use on-site bore well water and process gas and that, subject to final configuration and feedstock availability, could operate from a sovereign stockpile of 100,000 tonnes of virgin plastic pellets to support operations for at least 12 months.
HUI said the intended fuels are to meet applicable NATO STANAGs for JP‑8 to support interoperability with allied forces.
It has held preliminary discussions with defence, security and strategic infrastructure parties, including meetings in Vilnius and Brussels with NATO, and said talks are at an early stage with no certainty of commercial outcomes.
HUI added that its existing commercial projects, including planned large‑scale waste‑to‑fuel and SAF initiatives in Saudi Arabia and Oman, are not expected to be affected.
