80 Mile (AIM:80M) has announced that its executive director Roderick McIllree has been appointed managing director of Greenland Energy Company (Nasdaq:GLND) with immediate effect.
The AIM-listed exploration and development company said McIllree's role at 80 Mile remains unchanged, with his focus continuing on finalising drilling permits at Jameson on behalf of both joint venture partners.
In his new capacity at GLND, McIllree will oversee day-to-day operations in Greenland, leading regulatory engagement, permitting processes, and stakeholder relations in support of the planned exploration programme.
Under the farm-in arrangement, GLND is obligated to drill two exploration wells of approximately 3,500 metres each, at a combined expected cost of US$70 million, to earn a 70% interest in the project.
80 Mile's subsidiary White Flame Energy A/S holds 100% of the Jameson Land Basin exploration licences and retains sole responsibility for regulatory engagement with the Greenland Government, with all field activities, environmental and social impact assessments, and drilling permits subject to government approval.
The appointment formalises the division of responsibilities between the two partners as preparations continue for the planned drilling programme later this year.
