GreenRoc begins Phase III drilling at Amitsoq graphite project

The Greenland-focused critical minerals developer intersected graphite ore at its first drill hole, matching expected depth and thickness at the Amitsoq deposit.

GreenRoc Strategic Materials (AIM:GROC), a developer of critical mineral projects in Greenland, has updated on its drilling at the Amitsoq graphite deposit in South Greenland.

The company mobilised its drill rig on 15 July, with the programme set to run through August.

The first hole, AM_DD_039, was drilled between 18 and 23 July and intersected graphite ore from 107.15 metres to 119.51 metres, a true thickness of 9.7 metres. The intersection represents the Lower Graphite Layer at its expected depth and thickness, though the Upper Graphite Layer was not present at this location.

The team is now conducting hydrogeological testing, including installation of a downhole groundwater monitoring probe, to support a Pre-Feasibility Study planned later in the year.

The graphite ore is expected to be sampled and sent for laboratory analysis of its graphite content.

"The intersection of graphite ore at the expected depth and of the expected thickness is an excellent start to the programme and reflects the continuity of the Amitsoq graphite orebodies," said GreenRoc CEO Stefan Bernstein.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

GreenRoc has intersected graphite ore at its first Phase III drill hole at Amitsoq, hitting the Lower Graphite Layer at expected depth (107–120 m) and thickness (9.7 m true width), validating the deposit model. The company is now running hydrogeological tests to feed a Pre-Feasibility Study due later in the year—a routine but necessary step toward bankability, though a single hole on a junior explorer's pre-revenue project carries limited weight until assay results and broader drilling confirm grade and continuity.

Investment case

The result confirms Amitsoq's geological continuity at the expected scale, reducing exploration risk on the deposit itself. However, GreenRoc remains pre-revenue and dependent on equity and debt financing; the path from Phase III drilling to production-ready feasibility and funding remains long, and graphite market dynamics and permitting in Greenland remain material uncertainties.
