Angus Energy (AIM:ANGS) has appointed Ross Pearson as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director with immediate effect.

The UK onshore oil and gas company said Pearson takes on board-level responsibility for all operational, technical and health, safety and environmental functions.

Pearson has served as Angus Energy's Director of Wells and Subsurface since October 2023, overseeing the technical team, capital budget, drilling and workover programmes, and mergers and acquisitions evaluation.

He previously held the role of Technical Director and sat on the executive committee at IGas Energy, with oversight of subsurface, well engineering and facilities engineering.

Pearson brings 25 years of exploration and production experience across the UK, North America and Australia.

In his new role he will work closely with Finance Director Carlos Fernandes on capital allocation, strategy and investor relations.

"His technical credentials and operational leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow the business, particularly around the identification and assessment of potential acquisition targets", Fernandes said.

Pearson, 49, is a Fellow of the Energy Institute and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
