BSF Enterprise (LSE:BSFA) has published a technical white paper that sets out the science and commercial case for its T‑Rex Leather™ lab‑grown material.

The document, released by subsidiary Lab‑Grown Leather, says BSF Enterprise, a biotech platform developing tissue‑engineered products including lab‑grown leather via LGL, can use its scaffold‑free ATEP™ platform to scale premium, zero‑waste materials beyond medical applications.

The paper describes reconstructing a T. rex collagen sequence from fragments recovered from 68‑million‑year‑old fossils, using AI protein modelling to produce a variant labelled Gen4‑3 that was encoded into DNA and expressed in animal cell lines.

It sets out the Advanced Tissue Engineering Platform (ATEP™) process where cells grow in a crowded liquid medium to form dense skin matrices, which the company says yields strong, customisable leather within weeks using non‑toxic tanning.

BSF says ATEP™ reduces reliance on costly growth factors and removes the need for scaffolds, enabling a move from boutique production to high‑volume supply and licensing agreements.

LGL plans to target the ultra‑luxury segment first to fund scale‑up, positioning T‑Rex Leather™ as a fully biodegradable, cruelty‑free, plastic‑free and traceable alternative for luxury and smart textile applications.

The board describes the white paper as a "key commercial validation event", asserting the technology is validated and operational and ready to capture substantial value across global verticals.
