Critical Mineral Resources finds new silver structure at Agadir Melloul

Diamond drilling at the Moroccan copper-silver-gold project has uncovered high-grade silver intercepts pointing to a separate fault-controlled mineral structure.

Critical Mineral Resources (LSE:CMRS) reported assay results from 21 diamond drillholes at its Agadir Melloul copper-silver-gold project in central Morocco.

The AIM-listed explorer's flagship asset covers roughly 65 square kilometres in the Western Anti-Atlas, 250 kilometres southwest of Marrakech.

Drillhole BH 174 returned 8 metres at 0.58% copper, 147 grams per tonne silver and 0.26 grams per tonne gold from 63 metres depth, including a standout 0.2 metre interval grading 10.24% copper, 5,390 grams per tonne silver and 2.80 grams per tonne gold.

That intercept sits within massive sulphide material drilled directly into a semi-regional NNW fault, a structural control not previously identified at the project.

Drillhole BH 175 added 1 metre at 0.72% copper and 402 grams per tonne silver from 34 metres, reinforcing the pattern.

"Initial geological interpretation indicates that the high-grade silver mineralisation is associated with a fault-controlled structure", said CEO Charlie Long, adding that the company now sees "potential for a distinct silver target alongside the mainstay sedimentary copper target".

Separately, drilling extended stratiform copper-silver mineralisation eastward, with BH 160 intercepting 10.2 metres at 0.72% copper from 41 metres depth.

The company has now completed 272 holes totalling 11,347 metres since its joint venture agreement was signed in May, with 2,137 samples submitted to Afrilab in Morocco for analysis.

Further assay results, primarily from sediment-hosted copper mineralisation supporting the ongoing Mineral Resource Estimate, are expected within two to three weeks.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Diamond drilling at Agadir Melloul has identified a new fault-controlled silver structure with intercepts grading up to 5,390 g/t silver over 0.2 metres—a mineralisation style the company had not previously mapped at the project. This expands the exploration target beyond the sedimentary copper focus and adds a distinct high-grade precious metals vector ahead of the October publication of the independent maiden resource statement, potentially widening the project's economic scope.

Investment case

The discovery of a fault-hosted silver structure materially diversifies the Agadir Melloul asset profile and may enhance project economics if the structure proves continuous and amenable to extraction. However, the company remains in early-stage exploration; the new target's size, grade continuity, and minability remain unquantified, and resource definition will depend on results from the 2,137 samples currently in analysis.
