Tekcapital (LSE:TEK), the AIM-listed intellectual property investment group, said portfolio company Vesari has filed a twelfth non-provisional US patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Vesari is developing technology for a behind-the-meter, geothermal-powered hyperscale AI compute campus.
The application, covering "Predictive Optical Communications Using Communications Telemetry as Distributed Atmospheric Sensing", was filed on 13 August and assigned to Vesari the same day. It follows Tekcapital's announcement on 15 July confirming the filing and assignment of Vesari's initial eleven non-provisional US patent applications, bringing the total portfolio to twelve.
The new filing extends Vesari's intellectual property into low-Earth-orbit satellite optical data transmission, a pillar of its platform addressing free-space laser links between ground stations and satellites. These links can be degraded by atmospheric turbulence, moisture or aerosols.
The application describes using the routine telemetry generated by optical communication links as a distributed network of atmospheric sensors, intended to help anticipate and adapt to conditions affecting signal quality.
"This twelfth application extends the portfolio into predictive optical communications, the high-bandwidth, satellite-based data-transmission layer that we believe will be essential to distributing AI compute across Vesari's future geothermal-powered campuses", said Louis Castro, Tekcapital director.
None of the twelve applications has yet been examined or granted by the USPTO.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
Vesari, Tekcapital's geothermal-powered AI compute platform portfolio company, filed its twelfth US patent application on 13 August, extending its IP into satellite optical communications—specifically predictive systems to mitigate atmospheric degradation of free-space laser links. This follows the filing of eleven applications reported in July. The filing itself is incremental IP accumulation; none of the twelve applications has yet been examined or granted by the USPTO, so commercial or defensive value remains unproven.
Patent filings alone do not constitute revenue, market traction, or de-risking of Vesari's path to commercialisation. The company remains in early-stage development of a geothermal-powered hyperscale compute campus, and Tekcapital's stake valuation depends on successful execution and eventual exit—a reverse merger or listing route that was under early discussion as of early August.
