Costain Group (LSE:COST) has been awarded a contract by Norfolk County Council to design and build the road infrastructure for the West Winch Housing scheme near King's Lynn, Norfolk, as part of an overall £122m project.

The new road will connect the A47 with the A10, serving up to 4,000 planned new homes, and includes new roundabouts, a cycle path, and dualling of just under one mile of the A47 trunk road.

Design work begins this year, with construction expected to start in 2027.

The contract extends Costain's existing footprint in the east of England, where the infrastructure engineering group is already active across road upgrades for the Eastern Highways Alliance, Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance, a 1,625km gas mains programme for Cadent covering 168,000 homes, and consultancy work at London Stansted airport.

Chief Executive Alex Vaughan said the award was "built on our long-established highways delivery expertise and our proven track record in delivering best-in-class, value-for-money services for local authorities across the UK."

Construction is scheduled to commence in 2027.
