RC Fornax (AIM:RCFX), an AIM-listed consultancy providing outcome-based engineering solutions to the UK defence sector, has secured a position on a Thales UK niche supplier framework covering sonar and naval architecture engineering services.

The framework runs for three years with an option to extend by a further two years, and was awarded following what RC Fornax described as a competitive bidding process.

Thales has historically represented approximately 30% of RC Fornax's revenue, though the source announcement notes that activity with the client was scaled back while the company worked to strengthen the relationship; inclusion on the framework now provides what the board calls a clear pathway to renewed and expanded engagement.

No contract value or committed revenue has been disclosed, making the financial impact at this stage indeterminate.

Chief Executive Paul Reeves said the framework placement "represents tangible progress in one of our most important client relationships and validates our strategy of moving from project-based engagements to structured, long-term partnerships."

Thales UK's procurement director for underwater systems, Dave Williams, said the company is "looking forward to developing our relationship with RC Fornax."

The next milestone will be the conversion of framework membership into awarded work packages.
