Orosur's second APTA hole extends high-grade gold zone

"As with the previous hole, MAP107 is showing APTA to be more extensive than was previously thought," chief executive Brad George said, adding that the company is "fully funded" to continue the work.

Orosur Mining (AIM:OMI), the TSXV and AIM-listed gold explorer, reported that its second hole of the current drilling phase at the APTA prospect in Colombia intersected 135.5 metres at 1.91 grams per tonne gold, including a higher-grade zone of 49 metres at 4.06 g/t.

The hole, MAP107, was drilled roughly 50 metres south of the first hole in the program, MAP106, to test whether higher-grade zones identified there continued along strike.

APTA sits within Orosur's roughly 330 square kilometre Anzá project in Colombia's Mid-Cauca gold belt, west of Medellín, where more than 39,000 metres of drilling since 2012 has outlined a substantial epithermal gold system.

As with MAP106, difficult ground conditions in the Aragon fault zone forced an early termination, with the hole ending in mineralisation above the target zone of high-grade material intersected in earlier drilling.

Orosur said the result supports its view that the deeper high-grade zones at APTA are larger than previously modelled, information it expects to feed into future geological work and a potential resource estimate.

"As with the previous hole, MAP107 is showing APTA to be more extensive than was previously thought," chief executive Brad George said, adding that the company is "fully funded" to continue the work.

The rig is being moved east to a new access track to test shallower mineralisation, with the next hole, MAP108, expected to begin drilling within days.
