Tekcapital (LSE:TEK) said its portfolio company Innovative Eyewear (NASDAQ:LUCY), has added a suite of new AI features to the Lucyd app for its smart eyewear.

The headline addition is a Newscast widget that generates custom AI news reports read aloud through Lucyd eyewear, using a large language model to compile a podcast-style briefing from recent news based on the user's chosen interests and length settings.

Users can trigger it with a "Lucyd News" voice command, with the report refreshing on each request.

The Newscast feature goes live in the app next week.

Innovative Eyewear has also added Google's Gemini to its existing ChatGPT and Claude AI options for image generation and standard queries, alongside multimodal AI conversations that let users move between the app's visual interface and the glasses' audio interface without losing context.

Android users gain two further upgrades: the ability to set Lucyd as their device-level voice assistant, and a floating widget for switching between AI models.

"A custom, AI-generated podcast perfectly tailored to the individual is an elegant solution for cutting down screen time and impulsive scrolling, while still getting the information you want," said Harrison Gross, chief executive of Innovative Eyewear.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Innovative Eyewear has launched a generative AI Newscast widget for its Lucyd smart glasses app that creates custom audio news briefings, plus integrated Google Gemini alongside existing ChatGPT and Claude options. The feature rolls out next week. This is a product capability expansion for a company that reported $0.99 million in Q2 2026 net sales (71% year-over-year growth) and is executing a Canadian retail rollout of its Lucyd Armor safety eyewear line across 345 clinics.

Investment case

The Newscast feature addresses a real use case—hands-free, voice-triggered news consumption—that aligns with the smart eyewear form factor, but the announcement carries no revenue guidance, user adoption metrics, or timeline for material impact. For a company at $1.77 million in first-half 2026 sales, software feature velocity matters less than execution on the FYihealth Canadian distribution and sustained hardware demand.
