Nvidia offers among "most attractive" risk-reward profiles, despite circular financing concerns

A market analyst in London sees the circular financing concerns, sharpened by plans to mobilise up to $500bn of AI infrastructure investment, but his bullishness is undeterred.

Hargreaves Lansdown analyst Matt Britzman argues Nvidia's (NASDAQ:NVDA) move to help mobilise up to $500bn for new AI infrastructure with six financial partners is a bold ambition play that will inevitably stoke debate over circular financing in the sector.

Nvidia, the dominant maker of AI chips, is set to take a largely passive role in the scheme, with independent investors assessing each project and providing most of the capital, while Nvidia may invest alongside its partners and back up to 25% of individual projects.

Britzman says that structure offers reassurance that the facilities will face outside scrutiny rather than being built purely to generate demand for Nvidia's own products, and notes that success could benefit Nvidia twice over, first through chip sales and then via a share of the income the facilities generate.

"We are supportive of this initiative and continue to see Nvidia as having one of the most attractive risk/reward profiles in the tech space", Britzman said, while cautioning that investors should look past the size of the headline figure to the underlying timelines and flexibility of long-term capex commitments across the sector.
