Nichols (AIM:NICL), the diversified soft drinks group, will launch Myprotein Clear Whey Protein Water in September, a zero-sugar, ready-to-drink range containing 15g of whey isolate protein per serving.
The product extends Nichols' brand licence agreement with THG, the e-commerce group behind Myprotein, which began in 2021 when Myprotein licensed the Vimto brand for its Vimto Clear Whey range. That product has since expanded into creatine, collagen, pre-workout and gummies, and is now the number one selling clear whey protein product in UK retail, according to Nielsen data cited by the company.
The new range will launch in two flavours, Vimto and Raspberry Lemon, at a recommended retail price of £2.99 for a 500ml bottle.
Nichols cited Nielsen IQ data showing UK functional drinks sales reached £5.8bn, growing 10% between 2025 and 2026, with protein the most sought-after functional ingredient across demographics according to Kantar research.
The company noted that the UK's top five protein drinks are all milk-based, positioning the water-based format to capture unmet demand.
Myprotein joins Levi Roots, ICEE and Sunkist in Nichols' licensed brands portfolio within its UK Packaged division.
"This launch combines the world's leading online sports nutrition brand, offering huge credibility in functionality, with Nichols' proven expertise in soft drinks," said Andrew Milne, chief executive of Nichols.
Neil Mistry, chief executive of THG Nutrition, called the launch "a natural next step for the Myprotein and Vimto partnership" and "a statement of intent" for the brand's push into chiller and impulse retail channels.
