Greatland sees high grade gold in exploration drilling

The gold miner reported a step-out diamond hole at the Pinnacles prospect returned 58.7m @ 6.5g/t gold and 0.1% copper from 1,754m, indicating a possible southern extension of the West Dome Underground (WDU) geological structure.

Greatland Resources (AIM:GGP) issued an exploration update, telling investors that drill hole WRC14503A, a 1,858m diamond hole drilled from surface between December and April, at the West Dome, intersected massive sulphide and stockwork mineralisation.

The significant assays comprise 58.7m @ 6.5g/t Au & 0.1% Cu from 1,754m (approximately true width) including 37m @ 9.98g/t Au & 0.14% Cu from 1,754m and 34.1m @ 1.1g/t Au from 1,820m.

"The wide high-grade mineralisation, including 58.7m @ 6.5g/t gold & 0.1% copper (381.6 gram-metres gold), is among the best intercepts achieved from West Dome Underground drilling to date," Shaun Day said.

The intercept sits approximately 1.5km from the existing Main Dome Underground crusher and hoist, which the company says has ~6Mtpa capacity and latent infrastructure to support potential future mining should continuity be proven.

Greatland plans at least three wedge holes off WRC14503A to test 50-100m along strike and down dip, and is planning infill drilling between Pinnacles and the current WDU resource, plus further extension drilling to the south.
