Motorpoint Group (LSE:MOTR) said pre-tax profit for the year ending 31 March 2027 will be materially ahead of market consensus, guiding to a range of £9.8m to £10.8m against expectations of £9.1m to £10m.

The UK-based independent omnichannel vehicle retailer said the upgrade reflects annual pre-tax profit growth of between 30% and 44%, building on 82.9% growth in the prior financial year.

Trading volumes have run stronger than anticipated, supported by accelerated investment in technology, data and artificial intelligence, which the company said is delivering higher profitability per unit. Favourable supply dynamics have also underpinned the improved outlook, and Motorpoint has secured a further store to open in spring 2027, adding to its existing UK network of 22 sites.

The company pointed to "increased confidence in vehicle supply conditions" and progress on its technology and AI strategy behind the stronger guidance.

Motorpoint will provide further detail in its scheduled half-year trading update in early October.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Motorpoint has raised FY27 pre-tax profit guidance to £9.8m–£10.8m, above consensus of £9.1m–£10m, citing stronger trading volumes and margin gains driven by AI and technology investment. This represents 30–44% profit growth on top of 82.9% growth in the prior financial year, and the company is adding a 23rd store in spring 2027 against an improved supply outlook.

Investment case

The upgrade signals that Motorpoint's technology and AI strategy is translating into unit economics gains, not just volume growth. Execution risk remains until the half-year update in early October, but the guidance raise and accelerating store rollout suggest the growth narrative is intact.
