Hamak Strategy verifies historical Akoko drilling data ahead of resource estimate

The higher-grade results generally sit within 50 metres of surface, aligning with the explorer's expectations for a shallow oxide gold horizon at Akoko.

Hamak Strategy (LSE:HAMA) has strengthened the exploration case at its Akoko Gold Project in Ghana after newly processed historic drilling data revealed shallow, high-grade gold intersections.

The dataset, acquired for a nominal amount, covers exploration carried out between 2016 and 2018. It includes 77 reverse circulation holes for 6,270 metres, nine diamond drill holes for 1,072 metres and 404 soil samples.

"We are thrilled to see such exceptional gold grades and wide intersections from the processing of historical drilling data which Hamak recently acquired for the Akoko Gold project in southwest Ghana.

Among the reported intersections were 15.44 grams per tonne gold over 12 metres from 42 metres depth, 8.99 g/t over 7 metres from 42 metres, and 21.40 g/t over 2 metres from 27 metres. Hamak said the higher-grade results generally sit within 50 metres of surface, aligning with its interpretation of a shallow oxide gold horizon at Akoko.

One diamond hole, ANDD17-004, was also reported to have intersected sulphide mineralisation, which the company said may represent a deeper primary source for the oxide gold mineralisation, although this requires further investigation.

Hamak’s current RC drilling programme at Akoko North has completed 29 holes for 1,806 metres so far. Further samples are in the laboratory, and the company said it intends to commission an independent Mineral Resource Estimate and Preliminary Economic Assessment once drilling is complete and all results have been received.
