Delta Gold Technologies has filed its first provisional patent application following an invention arising under a Research Sponsorship Agreement with the University of Toronto.
The provisional application covers novel transducer structures for quantum devices, and the company has exercised its licence option under the RSA to enter a Technology Licence Agreement for exclusive global rights to the resulting IP.
"We are very excited about the discovery made at the UofT and the progress being made at Penn State and the first provisional patent filing represents a very important milestone and the work continues at pace," R. Michael Jones, CEO, said.
The Research Sponsorship Agreement includes funding commitments of C$3m over three years and Delta has completed the first-year payment of C$1m.
The provisional filing will remain confidential for 18 months while Delta and UofT collaborate on potential specific patent filings and further develop the inventions.
Delta noted that a separate sponsored research agreement with The Pennsylvania State University signed in March 2026 extends its university-led innovation model.
