Synectics (AIM: SNX), the security, surveillance and operational intelligence group, said its wholly owned systems integration business Ocular Integration has secured contracts worth £1.4 million to equip 220 new buses with on-vehicle surveillance technology.
The UK regional authority's fleet will receive a mix of advanced cameras, digital-mirror systems and on-vehicle video surveillance, aimed at improving driver visibility, cutting blind spots and boosting passenger and road safety.
More than half the vehicles will also connect to Synectics' Transport Cloud Services, giving operators faster access to video and operational data to resolve incidents, claims and disputes.
"This award demonstrates the growing demand for Ocular's on-vehicle solutions and represents an important win as we continue to grow our position in the on-vehicle transport market", said Amanda Larnder, chief executive of Synectics.
The recurring revenue tied to the cloud service adds to the deal's commercial weight beyond the upfront contract value.
The new fleet is due to enter service this autumn, extending Ocular's momentum in a transport market where Synectics continues to see scope for further contract wins.
