Invinity Energy Systems (AIM:IES), the AIM-listed vanadium flow battery maker, has agreed to sell 43 MWh of battery systems to Dairyland Power Cooperative for long duration energy storage projects across the U.S. Midwest.

The order is Invinity's largest to date, surpassing its 32 MWh sale to Pacific Steel Group in California and a 2 MWh contract with a commercial and industrial site in Wisconsin.

Dairyland, a Wisconsin-headquartered wholesale power supplier serving communities across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois, will deploy the batteries under the REVIVE programme, a multi-site initiative backed by the U.S. Department of Energy that Invinity first flagged in September 2023.

Delivery is expected to begin in late 2027.

Invinity said its Endurium technology was chosen for its ability to handle long duration charge and discharge cycles as grid demand and supply fluctuate, alongside its delivery record and field performance in the U.S. market.

"With three U.S. project wins in quick succession, we at Invinity are excited to be building real momentum and creating a stronger order book for our U.S.-based manufacturing capacity," said Matt Harper, president at Invinity.

Dairyland is expected to release further project details following an announcement event later this summer.

News Intelligence what this means for the company

Invinity has secured its largest order ever—43 MWh for Dairyland Power Cooperative under a DOE-backed programme—exceeding its prior record 32 MWh sale to Pacific Steel Group. Delivery begins late 2027, extending the company's order visibility and validating its Endurium technology in the U.S. grid storage market at a time when it holds £28.8m cash and remains debt-free, giving it runway to scale manufacturing capacity.

Investment case

The order materially expands Invinity's near-term revenue pipeline and demonstrates repeat traction in the U.S. Midwest under government-backed infrastructure programmes. However, the 3.5-year delivery lag means revenue recognition is distant; near-term cash generation and manufacturing ramp-up execution remain the critical tests of whether order momentum translates to profitability.
