Rockfire Resources (AIM:ROCK) returned germanium grades of up to 52.3 grams per tonne from hole HMO-017 at its 100%-owned Molaoi zinc deposit in Greece, the AIM-listed base metal and critical mineral explorer said on 1 July.
The 52.3g/t germanium hit was encountered over a 0.5-metre interval at 309.5 metres downhole depth, alongside a 5.9-metre intersection grading 5.0% zinc, 20.5g/t silver, 1.4% lead and 16g/t germanium from the same depth.
The hole also returned 2.20 metres at 4.5% zinc, 38.8g/t silver, 1.2% lead and 35.7g/t germanium at 254.45 metres, and 1.0 metre at 16.1% zinc, 33.8g/t silver, 0.7% lead and 21g/t germanium at 288.0 metres.
Molaoi holds a JORC Inferred Resource of 15.0 million tonnes at 7.26% zinc, 1.75% lead and 39.5g/t silver, and the current drill programme is designed to upgrade that classification to Indicated status.
Hole HMO-020 is now in progress, with laboratory results from holes HMO-018 and HMO-019 still pending; portable XRF readings from HMO-019 recorded peak individual values of 50.0% zinc, 18.8% lead and 179g/t silver.
"High-grade zinc, silver, germanium and lead values continue to be intersected, and the geological model is holding up under the scrutiny of the drilling rig," said chief executive David Price.
