Premier African Minerals (AIM:PREM) has produced the first spodumene-bearing concentrate from the commissioning of its Zulu flotation plant, the developer of the Zulu Lithium and Tantalum Project.

Preliminary internal laboratory analysis confirms the presence of spodumene in the concentrate, but it is unverified, and concentrate grades to date remain below target while showing progressive improvement as commissioning and optimisation continue.

"The production of first spodumene concentrate marks an important milestone in the commissioning of the new flotation plant," Graham Hill, Managing Director, said.

The miner said it is encouraged by initial plant performance, but noted it's premature to comment on expected recovery rates, final concentrate grade, throughput or overall plant performance while reagent additions, flotation parameters and plant stability are further refined.
