Oxford Metrics (AIM:OMG), the smart sensing and measurement technology group serving life sciences, entertainment, engineering and manufacturing markets, has appointed Stefan Lampa as Chief Executive Officer and director, effective from early December.
He succeeds Imogen O'Connor, who has stepped down as CEO and from the Board with immediate effect for health reasons after more than 25 years with the Group, including three as chief executive.
Non-Executive Chair Gary Bullard will serve as interim CEO until Lampa's appointment takes effect, with O'Connor remaining available to support key projects through the transition.
Lampa was most recently CEO of ProGlove, the industrial wearable scanner maker, where he shifted the business from a capex sales model to software-as-a-service, delivering annual revenue growth of 30%. He previously held senior roles at Cargotec, KUKA Robotics and ABB Robotics, including a stint as CEO of KUKA Robotics.
The Board sees his robotics and automation background as suited to expanding Oxford Metrics' sensing, software and data capabilities beyond its Vicon motion capture business into robotics, simulation, sport and healthcare applications.
"Oxford Metrics has outstanding technology, exceptional people and strong market positions, and the Board believes he is well placed to lead the Group through its next phase of development," Bullard said.
The appointment remains subject to regulatory due diligence and Lampa securing the right to work in the UK, with a further announcement expected in due course.
News Intelligence what this means for the company
Oxford Metrics has appointed Stefan Lampa, a robotics veteran who most recently led ProGlove through a shift to SaaS with 30% annual revenue growth, as CEO effective early December, replacing Imogen O'Connor who stepped down immediately for health reasons after 25 years with the group. The Board sees Lampa's background in robotics and automation as positioned to expand Oxford Metrics' sensing and software capabilities beyond its core Vicon motion capture business into robotics, simulation, sport and healthcare.
Leadership continuity risk is mitigated by Lampa's track record scaling industrial software businesses, but execution depends on whether his robotics-focused strategy aligns with Oxford Metrics' existing market positions and the company's recently outlined three-year financial framework.
